I’m assuming that it’s the first time that your friend has been convicted of DUI here in Pennsylvania. So given that she’s a first time offender the penalties are:
• For BAC of .08 to .99: probation for 6 months and a fine of $300;
• For BAC of .10 to .15: prison time from 2 days up to 6 months, fine of $500 and one-year license suspension. A restricted license may be given by the court after 2 months of your original date of suspension;
• For BAC of more than .16: Prison time of 3 days to 6 months, fine of $1,000-$5,000, and one-year license suspension. Also, after 60 days, depending on the court’s decision, a restricted license may also be given.
Now, getting cheap DUI insurance can be really hard. As you can see Rica, DUI offense is a very serious offense thus once convicted of this, a person would be automatically listed as a high risk driver. And being one would ask for very expensive DUI insurance rates.
But, here are important things that could help you find lower DUI insurance rates for your friend:
• Instead of looking for cheap DUI insurance, look for affordable DUI insurance.
• Research and compare DUI insurance quotes.
• If you are a member of some organizations inform your insurance provider, you may get a discount on your insurance premiums for that.
• Get anti-lock brakes , air bags, and other safety devices for your vehicle.
• Drive less and take public transportation as much as you can.
