Pennsylvania DUI Laws – When Will a DUI Be Removed from Driving Record

Reader’s Question:

In Pennsylvania, if you are charged with DUI, how long does it usually takes before they remove it from my driving record?

According to Pennsylvania dui laws, if you got convicted of DUI and got accepted in ARD program, you could:

• Lose your license for at least 30 days for ARD and one year minimum if convicted.

• Be sentenced to jail for 72 hours or more if convicted.

• Pay a fine of between $300 and $5,000 in addition to related fees and other costs.

• Undergo alcohol and drug evaluation.

• If necessary, be ordered to undergo alcohol and drug rehabilitation treatment.

• Be required to participate in 12 1/2 hours of Alcohol Highway Safety School.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation will expunge ARD records automatically after ten years if the individual’s drivers license were not suspended or revoked due to repeat offenders.

According to Pennsylvania dui laws, your DUI may stay in your record for a period of seven years. However, I still suggest that you check with the PennDOT to know for sure how long the DUI stays on a driving record.
